Heart Math Tutoring Kicks Off 2024 Volunteer Recruitment Campaign
July 24, 2024
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – July 24, 2024
Heart Math Tutoring, a local nonprofit organization committed to helping students in Charlotte elementary schools develop a strong foundation in math and enthusiasm for academics, is excited to officially begin recruiting and training 1,500 volunteer tutors to partner with 1,300 students in the 2024/25 school year!
Heart tutors will support students at 23 Charlotte-area elementary schools with building foundational math skills and gaining the confidence needed for long-term academic success. With just 1 hour per week from October to April, each volunteer can make an impact! Heart provides everything tutors need – informative training, a fun, hands-on curriculum, and an on-site Program Coordinator for support.
In the 2023/24 school year, 96% of Heart tutors rated their volunteer experience as positive. Join our network of trained volunteer tutors and make a positive impact on students in your community by signing up today!
Volunteering with Heart Math Tutoring
Heart volunteers commit to weekly tutoring sessions that last either 30 minutes or one hour, and work with the same student(s) throughout the year. We hope our Charlotte-based tutors will join us in-person each week; however, four of our partner schools will utilize Heart’s virtual tutoring model for those who are not able to tutor in person. View HMT’s website to find the school location and tutoring time that work best for your schedule!
For employers and civic groups, our team would be happy to host an information session for interested employees and members. Please contact volunteer@heartmathtutoring.org for more information!
In addition to our Charlotte program, HMT will offer tutoring in Charleston, SC and Winston-Salem, NC in the 2024/25 school year. Interested tutors in these cities can select their preferred school and tutoring time on the Charleston sign-up form or the Winston-Salem sign-up form!
“My students are always so excited to go with their tutors and I can see their confidence growing throughout the year!.” -4th Grade Teacher at Pineville Elementary
