Laura graduated from Furman University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a master’s degree in Special Education.  After graduation, Laura taught middle school math and language arts in the general education and special education settings for nine years.  She loves to see students be successful and feel confident in the classroom!  Laura has been at home with her two daughters since 2013, and it has been one of her greatest joys to spend this time with them!  In 2018, her oldest daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and since then, Laura has dedicated much of her time to volunteering with JDRF, an organization funding research to cure the disease.  She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Charlotte chapter of JDRF.  Laura sees Heart Math Tutoring as the perfect combination of working with students, teaching math, and collaborating with volunteers.  She believes that all students can learn when given the proper tools, a safe space to use them, and the encouragement to believe in themselves.
