Google Fiber and Wells Fargo Provide School Sponsorship-level Grants to Heart Math Tutoring

We are excited to announce several new grant awards that will help Heart serve additional students in the 2016/17 school year! Through a $25,000 sponsorship from Google Fiber, Heart will be expanding to Merry Oaks International Academy! Wells Fargo will sponsor Heart’s school site at Billingsville Leadership Academy for the third consecutive year with a grant of $30,000.

Parents, Tutors And Students Celebrate End Of Year!

Through May 16, parents, tutors, and students will gather to celebrate students’ progress in Heart this year with food, fun and games. Students will show their parents math games to play at home, and receive goodie bags that include a deck of cards and game directions. All will celebrate students’ accomplishments in Heart and receive a certificate of completion!

Amelia McGriff-Henderson, Executive Producer at WCCB Charlotte, believes Heart students not only learn essential math skills but gain from weekly mentorship. She learned about Heart through Hands on Charlotte and has worked with the program for three years. Currently, Amelia works with a first and a second grader at Winterfield Elementary School.
