From November 2022 to January 2023, 318 generous donors made a gift to provide students across Charlotte elementary schools with weekly, one-on-one support and made this Heart Math Tutoring’s most successful year-end funding campaign to date. Thank you to all who included HMT in their year-end giving!

Donors provide the staffing and curriculum materials that make it possible for volunteer tutors to provide academic support and serve as mentors without adding work to school staff. Heart students benefit greatly from one-on-one support in math, and we are tremendously grateful for the many donors and volunteers who make tutoring possible.

An additional piece of great news is that tutors met a challenge grant opportunity! In 2022, the Doris M. Carter Charitable Foundation pledged to match new and increased donations from volunteer tutors up to $10,000. 28 volunteers donated for the first time between June and December 2022, totaling over $14,000 and unlocking this generous grant. Combined, the funds raised through this challenge will sponsor a Program Coordinator and materials for an entire school site in the 2023/24 school year! Doris M. Carter Charitable Foundation Trustee and volunteer tutor Carter Nicholas shared, “I give to Heart because I see real progress in my students.”
