Global Endowment Management Sponsors Heart at Westerly Hills

Heart Math Tutoring at Westerly Hills Academy was made possible by a generous $40,000 grant from Global Endowment Management (GEM Foundation) in December 2014. Eight GEM team members also joined Heart as tutors this year.

 

This grant allows 56 students at Westerly Hills Academy to receive one hour of structured one-on-one math tutoring per week from September to May. Heart Receives Education Grant From Charlotte Hornets Foundation, Lowe’s

The Charlotte Hornets Foundation and Lowe’s Education Grant program awarded a total of $50,000 to Heart Math Tutoring and five other local organizations to support high-need education-related projects.

Heart Math Tutoring received a $5,000 grant in support of its math intervention program in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for 2016-17. Executive Director Emily Elliott and a second grade Heart student from Billingsville Leadership Academy accepted the grant during the check presentation ceremony during halftime at the Charlotte Hornets game Nov. 20 against the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Year Ahead: Community Support Enables Heart Math Tutoring To Expand Reach, Impact

With the program now up and running in all eight schools, we are excited about the year ahead. Here’s a quick look at Heart Math Tutoring’s 2015-16 presence in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools:

  • 390 students will receive tutoring for 30 minutes twice per week.
  • 440 community members will be volunteer tutors, giving students foundational math skills and enthusiasm for academics through early May.

Heart Math Tutoring Receives $20,000 From Wells Fargo For Billingsville Leadership Academy

Heart Math Tutoring is happy to share that for the second consecutive year, a grant of $20,000 from Wells Fargo will allow us to partner with Billingsville Leadership Academy. Starting later this month, around 75 Billingsville students will be seen one-on-one by a tutor twice per week through early May.

Math Tutoring At High-Poverty Charlotte Schools Gets Boost From Duke Energy

Heart is thrilled to share that we are expanding our programs in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, thanks to a $8,000 grant from Duke Energy Foundation.
