Calling all Volunteers in Charleston, SC!
11.16.2021A group of philanthropists and leaders in Charleston, SC are bringing Heart Math Tutoring to students at Ladson Elementary starting in January 2022! At Ladson Elementary, 30 students across grades 2, 4, and 5 will meet with volunteer tutors each week to build foundational math skills and confidence.
Located 30 minutes from downtown Charleston, Ladson Elementary is near Summerville, SC and Charleston Southern University, at exit 221B off of I-26.

New Partner Alert: Equitable Foundation!
11.01.2021We are excited to announce one of Heart Math Tutoring’s newest funding partners, Equitable Foundation! Equitable Foundation has made a significant pledge of $75,000 over the next three years to ensure elementary students develop a strong foundation in math and enthusiasm for academics through Heart Math Tutoring!
This grant will sponsor a school site in 2022/23 and 2023/24, where 50 students will receive 1:1 tutoring twice per week from October – May. Funding provides tutoring materials for students, family engagement, and a dedicated Program Coordinator … continue reading
Information Session: About Volunteering
09.20.2021Heart Math Tutoring staff recorded a 30-minute information session to help prospective tutors learn more about what volunteering is like. If you missed it, watch it below!
As of 9/20/21, an additional 500 volunteers are needed to support elementary students during 2021/22. A few things to keep in mind:
- 1 hour per week commitment
- HMT provides volunteer-friendly lesson plans, training, and staff support during tutoring
- No math or tutoring experience required (If you know 7+3 and care about kids, you are qualified!)
- Most importantly, elementary

07.20.2021Thinking about becoming a tutor? Please do! Heart Math Tutoring is currently recruiting 1,400 volunteers to spend one hour per week supporting 1,150 students in the 2021/22 school year! Read HMT’s volunteer recruitment kickoff press release about our community’s need and how Heart Math Tutoring works.
To become a tutor, simply select your preferred tutoring time and location on the signup form as soon as possible, and we’ll pair you with a student! Tutoring begins in late September.
